Charity Vegetarian for Life is on the lookout for 2023's rising stars in vegan and vegetarian catering in care homes and hospitals.

Now in their eighth year, the VfL Awards for Excellence in Veg*n Care Catering once again include a dedicated category for Hospital Caterer of the Year.

The number of people choosing to incorporate more plant-based meals in their diet continues to grow, as does those opting to turn completely vegan, and these awards recognise caterers who are pioneering the way in modern care catering. The awards ceremony at which the winners will be announced returns to the Houses of Parliament on the afternoon of Wednesday, October 18.

“Here at VfL, we think that care caterers who make a special effort to create delicious and nutritious vegan and vegetarian meals deserve special recognition,” says Amanda Woodvine CEO.

The categories for this year’s awards are:

• Hospital Caterer of the Year. Recognising the special effort made by hospital catering teams to provide a wide range of delicious and nutritious vegan and vegetarian meals for patients.

• Veggie Care Chef of the Year. Seeking the care chef who is making the tastiest meals for older vegans or veggies.

• Veggie Wholesaler of the Year. Meals on Wheels? Food delivery service? Retailer supplying the care sector? This award will celebrate that company making veggie meals easy.

• Most Innovative Veggie Dish. VfL is in search of one magnificent recipe. Something that is original and can be recommended to care and hospital caterers around the UK.

• The Beulah Charity Trust Special Recognition Award. This is for that special someone who strives to make the UK a better place for older vegans and vegetarians. This could be a volunteer, a resident, a staff member or anyone pursuing this objective.

Entry is quick and simple - just fill in the short form here, outlining who you want to nominate and why. Be quick though, the deadline for entries is fast approaching and all submissions need to be in by Tuesday, August 29.
