2026 is already proving to be a landmark year for PPL Training. With exhibitions and events on the horizon, networking and knowledge-sharing are certainly in the calendar. We look forward to connecting with you nationwide as we attend the HEFMA Forums and regional IHEEM exhibitions across the country.

Confirmed Events for the Calendar:

Livingston Location: The Scottish Central Belt

Our Livingston Campus serves as the definitive compliance hub for Scotland and Northern England, strategically bridging the gap between Glasgow and Edinburgh to offer a truly localised advantage. By minimising travel time and reducing the need for overnight accommodation, our facility ensures your team spends less time behind the wheel andmore time immersed in practical training. This efficiency ensures your team is back on-site and operationally ready faster, allowing your organisation to remain audit-ready.

Our Scottish-based instructors bring extended regulatory knowledge and dedicated years in the field. This ensures thatwhen delegates leave certified, they have gained the nuance and confidence required to navigate complex real-world landscapes.

Meet the Livingston-Based Team

We have a group of dedicated individuals based solely in Scotland to ensure everything runs smoothly, combining technical authority with a welcoming environment:

  • The Technical Team: Instrumental in maintaining our high standards of delivery, our trainers bring real-world experience to the classroom and the practical rigs.
    • Gavin Spence: HV/LV Electrical Systems Training Manager; Gavin oversees the technical integrity of our electrical safety programmes.
    • Douglas Waddell: HV/LV Electrical Systems Trainer, ensuring your APs and CPs are competent and compliant.
    • Steve Falconer: Senior Mechanical Trainer, driving our mechanical safety and pressure systems capabilities.
    • David Brett & Iain Agnew: Dedicated Electrical Installations Trainers, focusing on foundational and advanced installation standards.
  • Client Services: The backbone of our operations. From first impressions to problem-solving, our teamensures every delegate has a seamless experience.
    • Lesley Spence & Elliott Mazs: Handling client enquiries and logistics to ensure the centre feels likea welcoming professional home for your team.

Our Refreshed Identity Hits the Press: A New Chapter in Print

This month, our aesthetic isn't just a digital update; it’s hitting the desks of our partners and clients across the country. Our refreshed identity is making its debut in the latest industry press, including HEFMA and Facilities Management Journal, marking a milestone in our journey under a global leader in technical competence. This visual alignment with the Apave Group reaffirms our commitment to delivering the same industry-leading expertise our clients expect.

PPL Training's Practical Advantage

Our advanced training locations house exceptional facilities, mirroring real-world scenarios found in hospitals, airfields, substations, and MOD sites. Through comprehensive demonstrations, PPL equips delegates with the skills to achieve genuine competence.

Practical-based expertise demands practical training. PPL Training has three

industry-leading centres designed to replicate high-stakes environments. Our courses for Authorised Persons (AP)and Competent Persons (CP) provide the rigorous assessment needed to prove competence to stakeholders and insurers.

  • Slough Campus: Over 7,000 sq. ft. of dedicated practical space within a 15,000 sq. ft. facility.
  • York Campus: Our Head Office, featuring specialised areas for Aviation Ground Lighting, Electrical Installations, and Confined Spaces.
  • Livingston Campus: Over 12,000 sq. ft. with ten key equipped practical areas.

Whether it’s High Voltage switchgear, Medical Gas pipelines, or complex Legionella control systems, our centres are live technical hubs. We provide a safe-to-fail, controlled environment where delegates can simulate switching operations, fault finding, and maintenance on real-world plant rooms and specialist rigs. By replicating these infrastructures, we ensure that when our delegates return to site, they aren't just qualified, they are operationally ready.

Viewing training as a secondary overhead can lead to costly negligence. Training is an investment in riskinsulation. When a team falls short of demonstrable competence, the organisation is exposed to financial, legal, and reputational risks.

City & Guilds Assured

In an era where competency is essential, third-party validation is vital. PPL Training has been a City & Guilds Approved Centre for over 15 years. By pairing rigorous assessment with our immersive environments, we ensure the transitionfrom the classroom to a live HV substation is seamless. A City & Guilds Assured certificate from PPL Training proves a delegate is ready to manage complex estates safely.

As we navigate the complexities of 2026, our mission remains clear: to transform compliance from a regulatory hurdle into a strategic advantage for your team. PPL Training is ready to support your professionaldevelopment goals for the year ahead.
