2021/22 ERIC – Deadline for data submission

E&F teams will be aware that the 2021/22 was launched on April 13, 2022 and was supported by webinars and other communications in the run up to this. The deadline for submission of the 2021/22 data is fast approaching. All NHS Trusts must submit their data by 9am on July 1.

We are asking all E&F teams to assure themselves that they are on track to submit their data by the stated deadline. Please e-mail: [email protected] if there are any queries, or if advice is needed to finalise returns.

Estates and Facilities Workforce Action Plan

We were really pleased to see the publication of our Workforce Action Plan on June 15. We would like to thank all of those concerned, including the professional bodies, for helping us to shape this important milestone document. The document can be accessed here.

We have scheduled a national webinar which will be an opportunity for the national E&F team to discuss the document in more detail with the profession. This will be taking place on July 20 at 11:30am. The webinar link and joining instructions will be sent to our listed contacts in the near future. NHS colleagues who are interested in attending this webinar should e-mail: [email protected] marked for the attention of Tom McHugh.

NHS Chef 2022

Our thanks to all those chefs who applied for this year’s competition as well as their local E&F teams for supporting them through this process. We are really looking forward to the regional heats during August and September, seeing the chefs concerned demonstrating their skills and helping to raise the bar still further for NHS catering. We would also like to express our thanks to the FM providers and suppliers for their fantastic support and whose help continues to be essential.

Public Sector Low Carbon Skills Fund

Phase 3 of Public Sector Low Carbon Skills Fund has been launched by Salix Finance in partnership with the Department for Business, Energy, and Industrial Strategy. Please see the NHS Estates Collaboration Hub for further information about this £14m fund. This includes information on the application process and the webinars which have been schedule to explain the scheme in more detail. The applications portal opened on June 15, 2022.

ProCure 22 Framework

The ProCure22 framework expires at 23.59 on June 30, 2022. No new ProCure22 PSCP selections can be made beyond this expiry. However existing ProCure22 schemes and projects, where an NHS Trust has already selected and appointed a PSCP, can still continue to deliver beyond the expiry date.

If you would like more information please contact: [email protected]

The ProCure22 framework has served the NHS extremely well – in its near six-year duration NHS clients have registered >£5bn of capital projects and assured delivery has been provided to a wide spectrum of projects. ProCure22 is succeeded by ProCure23, which is the fourth generation of ProCure, taking the framework into its third decade of delivery. ProCure23 is available to NHS Trusts now.

For more information please visit: NHS England » ProCure 23: A new route to market for NHS capital works.

Other promotional details for the training can be found on the NHS Estates Collaboration Hub.

Patient entertainment and communication systems

We are currently looking at the national approach to bedside communication and entertainment systems for patients. As part of the scoping exercise we are keen to engage with Trusts to find out more about current needs and provision. We are interested in hearing from NHS Trusts about whether they have a current provider of services, either for communication, entertainment or both.

Further information can be found on the NHS Estates Collaboration Hub.

We have developed a short survey which should take around 10 minutes to complete. You can still access the link to the survey here.

National Standards of Healthcare Cleanliness: Healthcare Cleaning Manual

The Healthcare Cleaning Manual, which supports the National Standards of Healthcare Cleanliness was recently launched along with the written methodologies. These can be found on the NHS Estates Collaboration Hub along with a comprehensive range of videos and posters.

Case studies

We are continuing to review all areas of the NHS Estates Collaboration Hub, both the format in some areas as well as the general content. This includes the case studies area. As part of this process we would welcome some additional content. If you have  successfully delivered an estates and facilities related project that could offer fellow E&F teams further insight into best practice and shared learning then we would like to hear from you.

In addition to the areas listed above we are also looking to share best practice which E&F teams might have developed in response to the current pockets of void beds. We are keen to learn from those E&F teams about the methods and ways they have successfully used barriers and other methods to allow all beds to be used across their estate in line with IPC requirements. We are keen that these ideas are shared securely across the NHS Estates Collaboration Hub.

If you are interested is sharing your best practice across these areas then please see the Hub for further details and the required template. Alternatively, contact: [email protected], marking for the attention of Joy Heaps and Tom McHugh.
