Day two of the HEFMA Leadership Forum concentrates on the critical issue of the workforce, with four presentations tackling different aspects of the significant challenges faced in the recruitment and retention of staff.
Empowering teams by understanding their patient-facing challenges and giving them the knowledge they need to succeed in their work is the focus for Learning Facilitator, Vij Griew. Vij supports businesses to perform better by providing a range of tailored learning opportunities that focus on the behavioural capabilities of people and their organisations. He has over 25 years’ experience of driving organisational change, using well-honed skills in performance coaching, facilitation and training.
The presentation from Vij will focus on the concept of empowerment, of enabling people to solve problems and make decisions, which first of all requires the creation of an environment in which people feel valued, safe and motivated.
This session will draw upon his experiences of working with many private and public sector organisations, and most recently two teams within the estates and facilities departments at an NHS Foundation Trust hospital. In particular, Vij will discuss the common difficulties faced by supervisors, the interventions used in the Trust and the practical tools provided to create strong, united and empowered leadership teams.
