Inspection visit took place on June 21-22, 2022.

This was an unannounced, comprehensive inspection of maternity services, partly undertaken due to concerns raised over how the service was managing with low staffing to ensure women and babies received safe care and treatment. At the last inspection, in July 2019, maternity services were rated as good overall, but following this visit they were re-rated with the safe domain changing from requires improvement to inadequate. The overall rating for the hospital location remained the same.
