Manchester PCT to shed jobs


Meetings will begin this week in the Greater Manchester PCT cluster and also separately in Birmingham and Solihull and the Black Country clusters to decide on the effect of NHS reforms, the Nursing Times reports.

Meetings will begin this week in the Greater Manchester PCT cluster and also separately in Birmingham and Solihull and the Black Country clusters to decide on the effect of NHS reforms, the Nursing Times reports.

The changes mean that 800 senior nurses and other primary care trust staff are likely to lose their jobs and union Managers in Partnership has been quoted as sayingthat as many as 6,000 job cuts can be expected over coming months.

Apart from the 800 positions to be cut, another 500 staff are likely to transfer to bodiesincluding council public health teams, the NHS Commissioning Board, Public Health England, and clinical commissioning groups.
